Annual Frog Night

  • Frog & Salamander Pond Range Road Cumber;and, ME 04021 United States (map)

Join us on a night in April for this exciting annual event to witness, and if necessary, help our local frogs and salamanders get safely across Range Road from the Rines Forest as they awaken from winter and migrate to CCLT's Frog Pond and Salamander Swamp to mate and lay eggs.

One of the first true signs of spring is the sound of frogs. The sights and sounds of these vibrant wetlands are one of the greatest spectacles in Maine's natural world. We have a vital breeding habit in Cumberland at the CCLT Frog Pond and Salamander Swamp and your participation helps the frogs and salamanders safely travel from the Rines Forest across Range Road!

Since we must wait for nature to tell us when this is going to happen, please RSVP with your interest and we will provide updates as the conditions get closer and on the night the migration begins! The frog activity should occur on a rainy evening in April when temperatures are around 45-50 degrees and the ice has melted on the pond.
